Objectives – Facilities Renewal Strategy

  • Determine capital priorities within an affordable financial model.
  • Accommodate program growth and improved student services, with first priority on graduate space.
  • Resolve the future of Traill College, as required by the Board of Governors in 2001.
  • Increase efficient use of existing space.
  • Incorporate priorities of provincial government policy agenda.
  • Reduce deferred maintenance backlog.
  • Attract and retain students and faculty.

Priority Areas for Capital Expansion

  • Adding academic space, assuming constant undergraduate enrolment. Additional space is needed, driven in part, by current shortages, changes in classroom teaching methods and significant increases in graduate studies.
  • Reclaiming as much as possible ground floor space in Bata Library for library purposes.
  • Additional space for student activities; partially consolidating and improving student services in a more central facility.
  • Improvements to existing College academic space.
    • Refurbishment and expansion of the Athletic Centre.
