Objectives – Facilities Renewal Strategy
- Determine capital priorities within an affordable financial model.
- Accommodate program growth and improved student services, with first priority on graduate space.
- Resolve the future of Traill College, as required by the Board of Governors in 2001.
- Increase efficient use of existing space.
- Incorporate priorities of provincial government policy agenda.
- Reduce deferred maintenance backlog.
- Attract and retain students and faculty.
Priority Areas for Capital Expansion
- Adding academic space, assuming constant undergraduate enrolment. Additional space is needed, driven in part, by current shortages, changes in classroom teaching methods and significant increases in graduate studies.
- Reclaiming as much as possible ground floor space in Bata Library for library purposes.
- Additional space for student activities; partially consolidating and improving student services in a more central facility.
- Improvements to existing College academic space.
- Refurbishment and expansion of the Athletic Centre.
