IBI Group retained as consultants to undertake work on Facilities Renewal Strategy.
March 10, 2006
Invitation to Trent community (students, employees, alumni) to participate in consultation process to exchange ideas about the future of existing and potential facilities at Trent University.
March 13-17, 2006
Phase One: Individual Consultation Sessions held with Trent staff, faculty, program heads, administration, alumni, and students (graduate and undergraduate). Options and topics discussed include: Athletics Facility; Bata Library Expansion; Conference Centre; Existing Buildings; Graduate Student Expansion; Professional Programs; Research Space; Student Centre; Teaching Space; Traill College. Anyone unable to attend the scheduled sessions was invited to submit feedback and comments to the IBI Group via e-mail.
April 6, 2006
Completion of consultations with Trent community. Preliminary results posted and shared with Trent community.
- Over 145 stakeholders consulted in individual and group sessions.
- Over 8,105 e-mails and 13,486 letters sent to Trent alumni encouraging them to complete a survey and share their opinions with the IBI Group.
June 2006
Members of the Trent University community advised that IBI submitted report to the Board of Governors. Complete IBI study posted on the University's web site and internal portals.

Board of Governors endorses approach to develop Facilities Strategy to 2014.
December 6, 2006
Phase Two of Facilities Strategy Planning launched – preliminary analysis, development of options and identification of criteria to evaluate the options. Information and next steps shared with community via web site and internal web portals.
January 23, 2007
University administration posts Facilities Strategy update to web site and internal University portals. Community invited to submit questions, concerns and opinions about the consultation process and findings to date.
February 2, 2007
External web site dedicated to the Facilities Renewal Strategy created (http://www.trentu.ca/planning/facilities.php). All past and future updates posted to site.
Feb. 13 & 15, 2007
Facilities Renewal Strategy Open Houses held for internal and external communities. Storyboards of proposed options shared at Open Houses and posted on external web site.
March 2007
Draft report presented to the Board of Governors’ Finance and Property committee. Update and reminder to submit comments and questions posted on internal web portals.
May 8-9, 2007
All Staff Meetings held. Director of Physical Resources presented update on the facilities renewal plan.
