Course Reserves

Instructors are advised to use Leganto Readings Lists.  Learning and Liaison Librarians will work with faculty to explore various options to support Course Readings.

There are a number of options for high-use materials.

Short Term Loan: these items remain in the General Collection.  They circulate for 4 days, with one renewal. When a book is added to a Leganto Reading List, they will automatically be put onto Short Term Loan.

Course Reserves: these items are held behind the Library Service desk.  They can circulate for 4 hours.

Faculty looking to explore either Short Term Loan or Course Reserves can email library@trentu.ca for support.

Students looking for information about accessing Leganto reading lists should visit the Library Guide on this topic.

"Course Reserves" are items requested by instructors, so they are readily available to students in their courses.

  • Normally, these are course readings that support a course.
  • These items are only available to Trent students, faculty, and staff.
  • Materials are currently restricted to physical items kept behind the Service Desk.
  • Course instructors work with Librarians to determine what goes on Reserve with a 4-hour loan period.
  • Since this material is often in high demand, high fines are charged on overdue items.
