Frequently Asked Questions - Durham Library & Learning Centre

Email us at or call us at (905) 435-5102 ext. 5061! It's great if you want to contact us about your question or problem before coming into the Library!

All you have to do is find the book you want in Omni, place a request, choose your campus, and staff will retrieve it safely for you. You'll receive an email when it's ready for pick up!

Yes, you can. The Durham library is CASHLESS, so we only take Interac, Visa, and Mastercard. There is a minimum amount of $10.

You can have up to 10 active item requests at a time.

Email us at! If you could provide some information about the assignment you are working on and any windows of availability you have for a Zoom call (video optional) or a phone call, we can set up a time to discuss the research you need!

There are variety of study spaces options available at the Trent Durham Campus, including desks and computers in Room 112 (the computer lab), tables in the Atrium, and tables located elsewhere in the hallways. You can also find study cubicles in the Durham Campus Library & Learning Center during our business hours.

Due to COVID-19 safety protocols regarding space, the group study rooms are currently unavailable for booking.

Yes! There are limited computer stations available in the Library as well as in Room 112, the Computer Lab. Printing is available in the Library and in Room 112.

Access to the stacks is limited to ensure the collections are only handled by staff retrieving library material. Library material can be requested online and picked up at the Library Service Desk. Returned library material will be quarantined for 72 hours.

Physical course reserves are unavailable at this time.

You may place an ILL request for an item, but some requests cannot be filled at this time due to the closure of many participating libraries. Library staff are attempting to find alternative versions of physical items wherever possible and it may take more time to identify sources. You'll be kept informed of the status of your request via email and through RACER.

The Ontario university libraries are working on a solution to allow for physical copies of material to be sent via interlibrary loans.

For now, we are prioritizing access to spaces and collections to support currently registered students, staff, and faculty. This will allow us to adhere to capacity restrictions and required health and safety protocols, including physical distancing and enhanced sanitization of spaces and collections.

We look forward to eventually welcoming alumni and community visitors back to the library when we can manage the additional capacity.

The I.T. presence on Durham Campus is now located in Room 119! For more information on their hours and how else to contact them, email them at or visit their website.
