Teacher Education Opportunities at Trent University
The teacher education opportunities at Trent combine some of the features for which the University is so well-known - its attention to individual learners in small class settings and its high standards in teaching and research - with a deep commitment to supporting excellence in classroom teaching at all levels.
There are various ways to pursue Teacher Education at Trent University which are listed below. Each Education Program requires a Personal Statement of Experience (PSE) form. Please make sure you complete the correct PSE form for the Education program you are applying to.
Consecutive B.Ed. Program
This program is intended for students who have completed their B.A. or B.Sc. and wish to pursue teaching. Offered in both full time and part time formats, applicants can choose between the Primary-Junior (kindergarten - grade 6) and Intermediate-Senior (grades 7-12) streams.

Arts & Science Stream for Teacher Education

The Arts & Science Stream for Teacher Education is designed for students
planning a career in teaching. The program provides the academic and
non-academic foundations for entrance into a Consecutive Teacher Education
program and ultimately, the teaching profession. Each year, a number of spaces
in Trent’s Consecutive Bachelor of Education program will be reserved for

Emphasis in Teacher Education
The Emphasis in Teacher Education is available to students in a Single or Joint Honours Program at Trent who are preparing themselves to teach at the Elementary or Secondary level, and who plan on applying to a consecutive teacher education program upon completion of their Honours Degree. The School of Education and Professional Learning enjoys working with
various organizations and associations such as Teacher Federations and
District School Boards to develop Professional Learning opportunities
that teachers in the local area deem valuable.

Concurrent Teacher Education Program

Experience the best of two worlds: a rewarding life as a student at two of Canada's finest universities. You will spend four years at Trent University completing your Honours B.A. or B.Sc., and Queen's courses and placements for your B.Ed. Your fifth year is spent at Queen's University in Kingston finishing your B.Ed. You will gain curriculum knowledge and complete a variety of teaching experiences in a number of classrooms.
