Lockdown Pickup Service for Library Materials

During the Ontario Lockdown, Trent University Library & Archives (TULA) will offer a  pickup service for library materials to Trent students, staff, and faculty from Monday, January 11 until the end of the lockdown/ stay-home order.

Bata Library: 

  • Mondays to Thursdays, 10 am – 6 pm
  • Fridays, 10 am – 5 pm
  • Saturdays and Sundays, 12 – 5 pm

Durham Campus Library & Learning Centre:

  • Tuesdays, 10 am – 3:30 pm
  • Thursdays, 12 – 5:30 pm

REQUESTING ITEMS

Sign into Omni and search for library material. When you locate an item you wish to borrow, click "Request" and follow the prompts to select your pickup location.

Library staff gather the requested items and store them until your pickup time. You'll receive an email when your items have been processed. The email will also ask you to select a pickup time from our online booking system. You must schedule a pickup time. 

  • Only eligible library patrons (current Trent students, Trent staff and faculty) will see the Request option in Omni when they are signed into Omni.
  • Only items that are available for loan will have the Request option.

 

PICKING UP ITEMS

Before arriving on campus, you must complete Trent’s mandatory COVID-19 self screening.

When you place your request in Omni, you select the library where you'd like to pickup your items. The curbside pickup locations are:

Bata Library:

  • Pickup will take place within Bata Library at the main floor service desk.
  • Please ensure you follow all signage and the university’s Mask & Face Covering Policy while on campus.
  • You will need your Trent card to pickup your requested items.
  • Arrive only at your selected pickup time and do not arrive early.

Durham Campus Library & Learning Centre: 

  • When arriving for curbside pickup, please arrive near the front doors of Building A and call the number listed on the sign (905-435-5102 x 5061). A library staff member will provide additional instructions.
  • Library staff will then sign out the requested items to your account, place them in a bag, and deliver them to the pickup location. Please do not leave your vehicle. If you are not in a vehicle, stand 2 metres from the pickup banner.
  • All exchanges will be contactless.
  • Arrive only at your selected pickup time and do not arrive early.

RETURNING ITEMS

Items can be returned using the exterior book bin:

  • Bata: located at the front doors of the Library by the bus stop.
  • Durham: located by the front doors of Durham campus Building A.

Our Omni system works to transfer items between our two locations. When you request an item, you are asked where you want to pick it up: Bata or Durham. It takes slightly longer for transferred items to arrive, but you'll be notified when they're available at your chosen pickup location.

You can have up to 10 active item requests at a time.

You'll receive an email from the library when your requested items have been processed. The message will direct you to select a pickup time from an online booking system called Setmore.

After you select a time, you'll receive a confirmation email from Setmore.

You can sign into your Omni account at any time to review your requested items. 

If you add a note when booking your pickup slot or send email us ahead of time to confirm you'll be there, we will bring your items down at the expected time.

After you select a pickup time, you will receive a confirmation email. The email contains links for rescheduling and cancelling your pickup time.

Any item that currently is available for loan can be requested

Items will continue to have their existing loan periods. However, we will ensure that no items are due before Friday, February 19. If the lockdown is extended, we will extend due dates accordingly.

Following professional best practices based on research studies undertaken by REALM (the REopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums Project), all returned library material will be quarantined for 72 hours before being re-shelved and being made available for circulation.
