Dual Degree Part of the Appeal for Trent/Swansea Students
Undergraduate student Shelby Hayes finds personal and academic success at home and across the globe
At 17, Peterborough’s Shelby Hayes found the comfort and closeness of Trent University appealing. At 20, she’s a world away and thriving, thanks in part to Trent University’s new dual degree collaboration with Swansea University College of Law in the UK. Ms. Hayes is the first Trent student to take advantage of the opportunity.
In this unique new dual degree program, students like Ms. Hayes complete a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree or Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Trent University and also obtain a Law degree from Swansea University, in just six years. Not only can they graduate with two degrees, they also have the opportunity to take their education global, while they learn, travel, explore and live in the UK.
Ms. Hayes says the opportunity to take part in this unique new program is life-changing: “I would tell someone who is considering the program to do it. It sounds like a cliché but it really is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience. I am not aware of any other school that offers this kind of a partnership. Swansea is so welcoming and quite comparable to Trent so the transition is quite smooth, living abroad has given me much more independence, and the chance to travel is unmatched.”
“Living by the sea is amazing and I’ve met some really great friends,” she adds about her experience abroad. “Swansea has also given me the chance to travel. I have already been to London a few times, and I have trips booked to Paris and Dublin.”
