Biology Student Awarded Top Prize in Health & Safety Video Competition
“I was motivated to submit a video because I have been the kind of person in the past to ignore health and safety presentations because I thought the information I was learning, was common sense. Yet, I sometimes catch myself making poor decisions simply by not thinking about it,” explained Alison Flint a graduate of the Forensic Science program and current Biology student about her reasoning for participating in the Slips, Trips and Falls video competition.
The Joint Health and Safety Committee hopes that the winning video, which is informative and adds humour, will raise awareness of the potential hazards on campus and will generate discussion within the Trent community regarding the prevention of slips, trips and falls. Ms. Flint’s video can be viewed here.
Second place was awarded to fourth-year Media Studies students Alison Landry and Joshua Quantick. Third place was awarded to future Trent student, Erin Funnell-Kokonuk who will begin English Literature studies this coming fall. All three winning videos can be viewed here.
Trent University would like to thank the Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange (CURIE) for donating the grand prize of $500. Concerns about health and safety at Trent can be directed to the members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
