Cornel Grey, an international student from Jamaica, applied to Trent as an English major but, after taking a first year Sociology course, realized that he was most interested in the sociological study of the characters he was studying in his English classes. Trent offered him the opportunity to combine his passions into a joint degree to study both.

“I chose Trent because I was looking for a smaller community, I didn’t want a place that I wasn’t able to develop personal relationships with my professors,” explains Mr. Grey. “I also found that Trent had a really good scholarship program for international students and the other schools I was looking at didn’t offer as much support – Trent was it!”

His tips for incoming students? Take advantage of the resources on campus, whether that be professors or staff members. One of his most memorable experiences at Trent was his interaction with people outside of his classes about how they got to where they are and what interests them.
