Dr. Peggy Wallace teaches Fundamentals of Financial Accounting and Organization Theory in the Business Administration Program at Trent University. She has a BA.Sc in Family & Consumer Studies from the University of Guelph, an M. Ed in Adult Education, Workplace Learning & Change from OISE/ University of Toronto and a Ph. D. in Management from the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Wallace’s research is in the area of the professional careers, and the socialization of professionals and professional identity particularly that of professional accountants. She takes a critical approach to her research drawing on such feminist theorists as Simone de Beauvoir and critical hermeneutics to investigate these topics. She has presented her research at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC), the Standing Conference on Organizational Symbolism (SCOS), the Qualitative Research conference, The 3rd International Conference on The Dialogical Self and the Canadian Association of Adult Education. She has authored a textbook chapter on Personality & Identity and her work appears in outlets such as Equal Opportunities International, The SAGE Encyclopaedia of Case Studies and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences.
Prior to becoming an academic Dr. Wallace worked for 20 plus years in public accounting firms and in accounting roles in industry. She is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. She has consulted with large public companies both Canadian and International on matters related to risk identification and management. She has performed external audits and provided risk management consulting services to companies in the financial services sector, regional and municipal governments, retail and automotive. Prior to coming to Trent University Dr. Wallace was a senior manager in the Enterprise Risk Services group at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
