Leading Authority on Business and the Environment to Deliver Annual Tapscott-Lopes Business and Society Lecture at Trent University

John Elkington to Discuss New Role of Business in a Sustainable World on February 15

Tuesday, February 7, 2006, Peterborough

Trent University is pleased to announce that John Elkington, a leading authority on sustainable development and triple bottom line business strategy, will be delivering the annual Tapscott-Lopes Business and Society Lecture on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. in room 114 at Gzowski College on the Symons campus.

Mr. Elkington will deliver a talk entitled “Harnessing our Better Instincts: The New Role of Business in a Sustainable World”, which will address the three waves of societal pressure on business since 1960, the Triple Bottom Line, the impact of China, India and other emerging economies, and “the Next Wave”.

Co-founder and current chair of SustainAbility, an independent think tank and strategy consultancy based out of London and New York, Mr. Elkington has undertaken consultancy work for a wide range of national and international government and non-governmental agencies including, Greenpeace International, Nature Conservancy Council, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, World Wildlife Fund, Ford, and Unilever.

Mr. Elkington is the author of sixteen books, including: The Ecology of Tomorrow’s World, The Green Capitalists, Green Pages, The Green Business Guide, Cannibals with Forks, and the number one best-selling Green Consumer Guide. He has also authored over 40 published reports and has spoken at and/or chaired over 500 major events.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
