Experience New Student Orientation!

New Student Orientation (NSO) sessions are held throughout the year, and are an opportunity for new students to visit campus for a day and attend a variety of presentations and information sessions designed to help new students and their families with their transition to university.

There are NSO sessions throughout the summer for students starting at Trent in the fall semester, and there is one NSO session in January for students beginning in the winter semester.

At NSO, students will have the opportunity to learn about:

      • Registering for courses
      • Time management
      • Making academic decisions
      • What to expect when you arrive in September
      • Student life, campus clubs and groups, athletics, and more!

Also, students will have the chance to meet with an academic advisor, talk to representatives from housing services about residence, take a tour of the colleges and see their residence if they plan to live on campus!

Each student is asked to take part in one New Student Orientation session during the summer.

DATES FOR SUMMER 2014 WILL BE POSTED BY APRIL 2014.

The Student Blackboard (MyLearningSystem) brings together the information presented at New Student Orientation and presents it on an online platform for all students, including international and out-of-province, to view.

The purpose of the Student Blackboard is to introduce incoming students to the campus services and resources available at Trent.

Once a student accepts their offer to Trent, they will become a member of the Student Blackboard, where they can view important deadlines in the calendar, read information about some of the special services at the University, as well as have dialogue with their peers in the group message board.

Student Blackboard can be viewed by clicking on LearningSystem on MyTrent.

Student Blackboard will launch for all new students in June 2014.

The New Student Orientation Drop-In is targeted especially for new students who want to focus on course registration. While our regular New Student Orientation day includes other important and beneficial information, the Drop-In focuses solely on course registration questions.

At a New Student Information Drop-In session, you will be joined by a New Student Orientation staff member, as well as a Senior Tutor. They will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding how to register for courses.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION DROP-IN WILL BEGIN AGAIN IN JUNE 2014.
