Future Students to Experience Trent University in 360 Virtual Reality at Ontario Universities’ Fair
Annual fair September 22-24 welcomes future students to learn about Trent University’s renowned academic programs & enter to win first-year tuition
Scull your way down the Otonabee river with high performance athletes, be part of the famous Great Race cheer off, and experience a hands-on outdoor lab up close and personal – future students will experience all this through Trent’s new virtual reality 360-degree sizzle reel at the upcoming Ontario Universities’ Fair (OUF) while also having the opportunity to speak with professors and students and learn more about the University’s new and innovative academic programs.
Over the course of the free, three-day OUF running from September 22-24, 2017 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 135,000 visitors are expected to attend to find out more about Trent in Peterborough and Durham Greater Toronto Area (GTA), as well as 21 other universities across Ontario.
At the fair, future students will also learn more about some of Trent’s newest programs, degree options, and stream pathways, such as the new Law and Arts: Trent/Swansea dual degree, a unique program where students can complete a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree at Trent and obtain a law degree from Swansea University in the UK in just six years; and the Medical Professional Stream, a four-year assistance program designed for students looking to pursue a career in medicine after graduating from Trent.
Along with learning about academic offerings, and coupled with the 30’ video wall embedded in the booth which features breathtaking video and highlights on leading student satisfaction results, generous scholarships, and top rankings, Trent is offering future students a new opportunity to experience Trent’s Peterborough and Durham GTA campuses in VR. By slipping on a virtual reality headset, students will be fully immersed in the Trent student experience – getting a sneak peek at what they will find when they visit campus.
“We all look forward to the Ontario Universities’ Fair each year – the energy is electric with students and their families eager to learn about Trent,” said Marilyn Burns, associate vice-president of Marketing and Recruitment at Trent University. “A glimpse into Trent’s two campuses really will take on a whole new flavour this year with our virtual reality kiosks at the Trent booth and our presentation room. We know how wowed students are when they visit our picturesque landscape and leading-edge facilities – now we can bring the experience to thousands as they chat with faculty members and explore our expanding programs in Peterborough and Durham GTA. See you at the OUF!”
Trent University leadership from both campuses also make it a priority to attend the OUF, including Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor; Dr. Jackie Muldoon, provost and vice-president academic, and Joe Muldoon, head of Trent University Durham GTA Campus. Along with deans, faculty, current students, alumni and staff, they share information and answer questions from thousands of high school students and their families. At a break-out room, students and their parents can sit in on a 20-minute multi-media presentation that provides even more detail on Trent’s leading academic programs, expanding facilities and transformative student experience. While at the Trent University booth or presentation room, students can also enter for a chance to win first-year tuition free. When they connect with Trent, and each time they attend a Trent presentation or visit campus for tours or events, students can enter again and again to increase their chances of winning.
Trent has been attending the OUF since the fair’s inception in 1997 as a way to help secondary students gather information about programs, student life, residences, financial aid, work-study opportunities, study abroad, and admission requirements.
Visit Trent University at the OUF at the Metro Convention Centre in downtown Toronto September 22-24 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
