Going Green at Trent University
Trent’s efforts highlighted in the COU’s Going Greener Report
Trent University’s Energy Performance project was highlighted in the newly released Council of Ontario University’s (COU) Going Greener report which provides a synopsis of Environmental Sustainability at Ontario Universities. The energy performance project, which is currently underway, includes several energy saving measures such as LED lighting and efficiency improvements to mechanical systems and controls that will result in the University saving an expected $1.5 million annually. Once in place these efficiency improvements will reduce Trent’s carbon footprint by approximately 2,600 tonnes a year. Learn more about the updates to Trent’s campus as part of the Energy Performance project.
Also highlighted in the COU’s report is the Trent Research and Innovation Park (TRIP), a partnership with the City of Peterborough. The vision of the TRIP is to be Canada’s premier green technology research and innovation site hosting a cluster of companies and start-up enterprises. Learn more about the TRIP.
These are just two examples of how Trent University is demonstrating the leadership and ingenuity required to move towards a sustainable future.
