Meet a Trent Student: Stephen Savoy, French Studies
Returning to Trent after graduating the first time with a joint degree in English and Sociology, and spending 10 years as a teacher, Stephen Savoy opted to take his education global – taking advantage of the study abroad option in Nantes, France as part of his French Studies degree.
While abroad, Mr. Savoy took the opportunity to visit the locations he had studied in his classes, as well as explore the diversity within each city. He states that it was the people he met along the way that enriched his study abroad experience.
As an educator, Mr. Savoy states that there are many benefits an abroad experience brings to a classroom. “I strongly recommend this experience for anyone planning to become a teacher; you will come away with a lot of stories, traditions and photographs that you can share with your future students.”
Trent University prides itself on providing an outstanding personal and interactive learning environment. This story is part of the #MeetaTrentStudent series, which highlights our many student success stories and the numerous dynamic programs offered at Trent.
