Trent Community Expresses Support for Muslim Community following Arson at Mosque
Trent University joins with the broader community of Peterborough in condemning the arson that took place at the Peterborough Masjid Al-Salaam on Saturday, November 14. The University is reaching out to our Muslim students, faculty and staff to offer support and is encouraged by the widespread, multi-faith community response, including a fundraising effort that has already raised a significant portion of the funds required to repair the damage done.
As an institution with broad international representation and a deep commitment to diversity, Trent University strives for opportunities to educate. The University and student groups are looking at a range of workshops and public forums.
For students who have been affected and wish to seek support, the Trent International Program (705-748-1314 or tip@trentu.ca) and Trent Spiritual Affairs (705-748-1011 x7213 or glennempey@trentu.ca), are resources, as is Counselling (705-748-1386 or counselling@trentu.ca).
