Trent Chancellor Named #4 Business Thinker in the World
Alumnus Don Tapscott lands number four spot in Thinkers50 2015 global ranking
Best-selling author, technology guru and Trent University alumnus and chancellor, Don Tapscott, has once again been named one of the top thinkers in the world by Thinkers50.
Described as the Oscars of Management Thinking, the Thinkers50 global ranking is published every two years and is a guide to which thinkers and which ideas matter now. On the 2015 list, announced at a ceremony in London, England on November 9, Dr. Tapscott was named the #4 most important business thinker in the world, making the top five list for the second time running. In 2013, he was also ranked #4; previously, in 2011, he was ranked number nine on the same list.
“At Trent we are proud of our commitment to ‘challenge the way we think,’” said Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University. “Don Tapscott embodies that ideal as he moves from one success to another, challenging the world to reimagine everything from business to social justice.”
Author and co-author of 14 widely-read books about information technology in business and society, Dr. Tapscott’s latest research explores how a new breed of global network, enabled by the internet and other technologies, offers an alternative to traditional approaches such as the United Nations or national governments as a way of addressing global problems. Dr. Tapscott was also recently awarded one of the highest honours in Canada, being named a member of the Order of Canada.
