objectives

The proposed objectives of the CEOSGA are as follows:

  • Enable the constant review the state of the art in Remote Sensing and Geomatics Science and applications in the PKLR and Southern Ontario region promoting the exchange knowledge, information and experiences in their methods, procedures and tools as applied to the monitoring of the natural and built up environments in the presence of global, regional and local environmental, social and economic concerns.

  • Building on the critical mass of knowledge and experience in Remote Sensing and Geomatics Sciences, and on the installed capabilities existent in the PKLR, promote the advancement of knowlege and capabilities to be put to use for meeting pressing societal needs in the region. In particular, ensure the existence of a facility with leading edge equipment, software environment for image analysis and field support for remote sensing experiments and spatial analysis applications, together with an innovative academic programming and an outstanding learning environment for undergraduates and graduates.

  • Promote the creation and advancement of Remote Sensing and Geomatics science and applications through graduate research training, and the execution of research and development projects for both local, regional, national and international entities, including entities developing Geomatics and Remote Sensing practical applications (e.g. the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Sir Sandford Fleming College, Conservation Authorities, Nature Conservation NGOs, etc) and a potentially a larger array of private sector enterprises.
