Trent University Students Organize Fundraising Dinner for Haiti

Community Invited to Attend “A Taste of Haiti” March 18

Thursday, March 4, 2010, Peterborough

On Thursday, March 18 at 5 p.m. in the Great Hall of Champlain College, the Trent Central Students Association (TCSA) and Aramark, are proudly presenting the biggest Haiti fundraiser at Trent University – a Haitian cuisine buffet featuring fascinating guest speakers.

Tickets for the fundraising dinner are on sale now. Only 240 tickets for the event will be sold. The minimum donation for a ticket is $17. To purchase a ticket, contact the Trent Central Students Association office at (705) 748-1000 or the Trent International Program at (705) 748-1314.
                                     
The menu includes: grilled flat breads; Haitian potato salad; picklese - pickled vegetable salad; mixed greens with a mango vinaigrette; diriet - rice and red beans; corn fritters; boulette – meatballs in a herb sauce; Haitian patties; beyen - fried bananas; and fresh fruit platters. All food is being donated by Aramark.
 
All the money raised from the event will be donated to Haiti relief efforts through World University Service of Canada (WUSC) for educational funding as well as through Habitat for Haiti for capacity building.
