Rugby and Soccer Season Opener Scores

Trent Rugby Opens Season with a Win

The Trent University men's rugby team travelled to Toronto for their OUA season opener against the University of Toronto, Saturday, September 10th. Trent won the match by a score of 20-9. "It felt great to get off to a good start against a quality opponent. The team has been training hard and it paid off with a win," said Head Coach Darrell Devine.

Scoring tries for the Excalibur were rookie Jeff Mcdiarmid, Harry Snowden, Josh Connor and Mike Simmons (left). Trent will host Brock University, Saturday, September 17 at 3:00 pm.

Trent Soccer Opens Season

The Trent University men's and women's soccer teams travelled to Ottawa for the weekend to open the OUA soccer season. On Saturday the Trent women lost to Carleton University by a score of 8-0 and the Trent men lost by a score of 4-0. On Sunday the Trent women were defeated by the University of Ottawa by a score of 3-0. The University of Ottawa does not have a men's program. "This was a tough road trip to open the season. All three of the teams we played this weekend are ranked in the top ten in the country. We played hard and we will continue to improve and get ready for our next opponent," said men's and women's Head Coach Claude Bolton. The Trent soccer teams will travel to Kitchener, Saturday, September 18, to play Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo.

Women's Rugby Opens Season

The Trent University women's rugby team travelled to Kingston, to play Queen's University to open the OUA season. Queen's won the match by a score of 32-0. "Queen's is a quality program, and unfortunately we're still recovering from some injuries from training camp. We will be looking for a strong effort next week," said Assistant Coach Craig Harris. Trent's next game is at York University, Sunday, September 18.
