Convocation '99 shine

An estimated 3,500 visitors came to campus June 4 to witness the conferring of 1,057 degrees and diplomas under a hot sun. A new feature of the traditional outdoor Convocation was the addition of a tent with closed circuit television coverage of the ceremony for those audience members who wished shelter. There was one PhD granted in Watershed Ecosystems, along with 31 Master's degrees, 29 Bachelor of Administrative Studies, 344 Honours Bachelor of Arts, 202 Honours Bachelor of Science, 337 Bachelor of Arts and 107 Bachelor of Science degrees. In addition, there were two Native Management and Economic Development diplomas and four Native Studies diplomas. A Toronto film company captured images of the event to be used in a future Trent promotional video.
