Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre Hosts Free Community Open House January 15

Community invited to experience first-hand what
state-of-the-art athletics centre has to offer

Text Box:  To assist people with their New Year’s resolutions to lead a healthy lifestyle, the new Athletics Centre at the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre (TCSRC) is hosting a free community open house on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Designed to give the community a sneak peek at what is available to all TCSRC members, the open house will feature a number of free activities. A full schedule of events is as follows:

Workout
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring your gear and enjoy a free workout in the new weight room and cardio loft, equipped with all new machines overlooking the Otonabee River.

Climbing Wall and Rowing/Paddling Tank Demonstrations and Orientations
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Test your skill on the indoor climbing wall and try out the state-of-the-art rowing/paddling tank.

Group Fitness Classes
You are invited to preview some of our most popular group fitness classes. With four classes to choose from during the Open House, and a wide variety of additional classes offered on a regular basis at the TCSRC, we have something for everyone.  During this one-day event, try one of these amazing classes, or try them all. No need to register, just show up!

Hatha Yoga – 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Hoop Yoga – 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Energy Pump – 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Swimming
Enjoy a free family swim or individual lane swim in the revitalized Allan Marshall Pool.

Individual Lane Swim
1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Practice your front crawl or breaststroke. The pool will be open for lane swimming for all guests for this hour.

Family Swim
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Bring the whole family to enjoy an hour-long family swim.

Winter Programs
In addition to all of the activities listed above, the Open House will feature opportunities to meet the friendly staff at the TCSRC, take a tour of the new, modern facility, and learn more about our registered winter programs, including aquatics, Trent Summer Sports Camp and new offerings like Learn to Fence, Judo and Learn to Row/Learn to Paddle. These programs are open to members and non-members and start in January.

As the only athletics and recreation facility in the growing north end of the City of Peterborough, the TCSRC provides vital wellness services to all residents. Unique and innovative features of the new Centre include: 12,000 sq. ft. cardio loft and weight room overlooking the Otonabee River, indoor climbing wall, North America’s most advanced indoor rowing/paddling tank, Swimex hydrotherapy pool (the only one of its kind in the region) equipped with state-of-the-art features, expanded therapy clinic with Trent Health in Motion, a complete makeover of the pool, updated and redesigned change rooms, and a Wi-Fi equipped café.
