2012 Graduate Profiles

Parwana Ahmad '08, B.A. International Development Studies and Political Science, Afghanistan, Kabul

Parwana Ahmad plans to utilize humanitarian and sustainable development values she learned at Trent University, in order to contribute to change – globally and in her own country. Her work with Professor Paul Shafer has inspired her to contribute to worldwide awareness regarding the nature of poverty and its economic and social causes.

How will you make a difference with your Trent degree?
I am planning to become involved in international development and be part of global change in the future. I intend to carry on in my role as an international ambassador, and by doing youth outreach in order to engage Canadians in global issues as a way to raise general awareness regarding poverty and how to tackle it.

Why did you choose Trent?
I chose Trent because it has an enriched and close international community. More importantly Trent values environmental sustainability, pluralism and diversity, and provides a higher quality education.

What is the best thing about studying at Trent?
Higher quality of education due to smaller sizes of classes and great instructors!
