Qi Liu

Shanghai, China
Mathematics, Specialization in Mathematical Finance

“Study abroad provides a good opportunity to experience different teaching methods,     and it’s also good for learning new language, cultures, and making friends around the world,” says international student Qi Liu about making the decision to leave her hometown in China to study at Trent University.

Now as a graduate of the University, with a degree in Mathematics and a specialization in Mathematical Finance, Qi looks back at her time at Trent fondly. Grateful for the support and guidance she was given by her professors, fellow students and staff in the Trent International Program (TIP), Qi says, “Trent is a very good place for international students to come since it provides a lot of help, and a lot of fun during your studies. You never feel alone at Trent because Trent bands everyone together.”

Looking to the future, Qi hopes to one day open her own business, providing investment advice to people and dealing with issues of risk management.

“My time at Trent has given me the confidence to proceed into the working world in the near future,” she says. “Being at Trent has made me face a lot of challenges which I have thrived to overcome and because of that I know I can do it.”
