Lyndsay Gray

Lyndsay GrayEmsdale, Ontario
Sociology
Lyndsay Gray says that when she found sociology at Trent, she found herself.

Why did you choose Trent?

I chose Trent because of its smaller size and emphasis on liberal arts education.

How would you describe yourself? How would others describe you? What are your passions in life?

I am a very out-going person. I consider myself (as I am sure others do as well) a very funny and personable individual. I care very much about my friends, family and peers. My passion in life is school and trying the best I can, at everything I do.

Have you been involved in any clubs, groups, and/or sports at Trent? If so, which ones?

I take part in functions put on by the TQC and I am involved with events that are put on by the Sociology department.

What has your time at Trent meant to you? What are some of your favourite memories? What will you take with you from Trent?

My time at Trent has been the greatest experience of my life! Trent has provided me with the opportunity to grow as a person, as well as a scholar, and for this, Trent will forever hold a special place in my heart.

At Trent I have met the most spectacular people and had the most amazing experiences. When I leave Trent I will take with me friendships and relationships with people that I never thought possible. Moreover, I feel so lucky that I have had such encouraging and supportive professors and this I will remember for the rest of my life.

What are your future plans and aspirations? What do you hope to accomplish?

In September 2008 I will begin my Master’s degree in Sociology at Carleton University. In 5-10 years I hope to still be in school, researching, writing and inspiring students like my professors have done for me.

I would like to make a difference through the work I am doing on the regulation of women’s bodies and I am looking forward to publishing work that makes people question and critique the various social, political and economic actions that continually oppression women and marginalized peoples.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

When I first arrived at Trent I never dreamed that I would have had such a fabulous time. When I found sociology, I found myself.
