Trent Volleyball Teams Get Important Win

The Trent University Men's and Women's Volleyball teams swept cross-town rival, Sir Sandford Fleming, Wednesday, January 19 at Trent University. The Women opened the night with a 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20) victory, Leading the way for the Excalibur was Laura Lynch with 16 points (13kills, 1 block, 2 aces). With the win the Trent women improve to 4-5, and currently sit in 3rd place in the OCAA East Division.

Later in the evening, the Trent Men's Volleyball team defeated the Fleming Knights by a score of 3-2 ( 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11). Leading the way for the men was Ryan Coghlin and Cory Leblanc with 19 and 17 points respectively. The Trent men now trail Fleming by 1 win for the 3rd and final playoff spot. Trent hosts College Boreal, Saturday, January 22. The women start at 1pm, followed by the men at 3pm.

Becki Rodin Named MVP at All-Star Game

North Bay, ON - At the 12th Annual OCAA Volleyball All-Star weekend, Trent University's Becki Rodin was named the Most Valuable Player for the Eastern Conference, on Saturday, January, 17th.

Ms. Rodin, a Peterborough native and third-year setter for the Trent Excalibur, was playing in her first all-star game as she helped lead the Eastern conference to a 2-1 victory over the West.

"Becki played a great game, she's been working hard all season and its good to see her get rewarded for her effort," said Trent Assistant Coach Adam Ruck.

 

Two Trent Athletes Selected to Volleyball All-Star Game

Toronto, ON - Trent University is proud to announce that Ryan Coghlin and Becki Rodin have been selected to represent the Eastern Conference in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Volleyball All-Star Game, to take place January 15th at Canadore College in North Bay. Becki is a 3rd year setter and a local graduate of St. Peter's High School in Peterborough. Ryan is a 2nd year student from Atwood, Ontario and plays the power position.
