Athletes of the Week
Trent University is proud to announce that Sheena Mckay is the RILEY'S JUNCTION Female Athlete of the Week. Sheena is a member of the Excalibur Fencing team, and was an OUA all-star last season. Sheena placed 5th at this week's Queens Invitational, in which competitors come from as far away as England and France. Sheena, a Cultural Studies major, is currently in her 3rd year and hails from Barrie, Ontario. Excalibur Open Fencing Season The Trent Excalibur fencing team traveled to Kingston for the Queen's Invitational on Saturday, October 18. Athletes travel from as far as Europe to compete in this prestigious competition. Leading the way was returning OUA All-star Sheena Mckay who placed 5th out of 28 competitors, in the Women's Sabre division. Katiya Smoliy placed 13th out of 28 in the Women's Foil. Tamary Walsh, also competing in the Women's Foil placed 14th. In men's action, Joe MacDonald placed 16th out of 38 in the Men's Sabre. Hector Sarne placed 15th out of 63 in the Men's Foil. The next competition for the Excalibur Fencing team is the RMC Invitational, November 1 and 2. Excalibur Swimming Success Continues The Trent Excalibur swim team traveled to York this past weekend, to compete in a dual meet against Carleton, Ryerson, and York. Trent finished in 2nd place in both the men and women's divisions. Leading the way was Alex Babaris who broke the school record in the 200m individual medley, he finished 2nd in this event. Babaris also finished in 1st place in the 100m fly, and the 200m fly. On the women's side Jessica Madder broke the school record in the 200m breast, finishing in 3rd place. Madder also finished in 1st place in the 100m backstroke. The women's 100m freestyle relay finished in 2nd place, but eclipsed the school record by 3 seconds. The record had been in place since 1994. The next meet for the Excalibur swim team is the OUA Divisional Championships, Nov. 22, and 23 at Guelph. Soccer The Trent Excalibur Men's soccer team hosted McMaster at Milroy field, Saturday October 18. McMaster won, on a late goal, by a score of 3-2. Scoring for the Excalibur were Kaz Kishi and Mon Pachantabutr. In Sunday's action the Excalibur men lost to Carleton by a score of 3-0. Trent finishes the season with a record of 0-11-1. Their lone tie came against Guelph. In Ladies action, the Excalibur got off to a quick start when Michelle Malindrino scored to put Trent up 1-0. McMaster eventually won the game by a score of 7-1. Aimee Quesvelle and Megan Beckett both scored 3 goals for McMaster. Both the Men's and Women's Soccer teams travel to Ottawa to play Carleton. In Sunday's action the Excalibur Women wrapped up their season with a loss to Carleton by a score of 4-0. The Excalibur Women finished the season with a record of 0-9-1. Their lone tie came against Ryerson. Rugby In Rugby action the Excalibur men traveled to Queens Saturday October 18. Queen's won the game 82-0. Trent finishes the season at 0-6.

Male Athlete of the Week. Josh is a member of the Excalibur Rugby
team, and plays the Wing position. Josh hails from Whitby, Ontario
and is a 3rd year Geography / History student. Josh is a former member
of Team Canada, and his strong play has been evident throughout the
season for the Excalibur.
