Centre for Theory, Culture and Politics Hosts “Renderings” Conference – October 19-21

A Theory, Culture and Politics graduate student conference, co-sponsored by Dr. Davide Panagia, Canada Research Chair in Cultural Studies, and the Centre for the Study of Theory, Culture and Politics at Trent, will be held this weekend, October 19 to 21 at Trent University’s Catharine Parr Traill College in the lecture hall.

The conference begins Friday night with a keynote address from Dr. Bruno Bosteels, a Romance Studies professor at Cornell University. Prof. Bosteels will be speaking on “Rendering the Event.”

The theme of the conference is “Renderings”, a theoretical concept that is given much attention in current research in political and cultural theory, and sessions will discuss the renderings of contemporary culture and political life. Graduate students from Canada and the United States will be presenting at the conference.
