Monday, March 19, 2012, Peterborough
Trent University welcomes the public to a Writers Reading Series special presentation of a new book, Stories About Storytellers, by writer Douglas Gibson on Monday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Bagnani Hall at Traill College, followed by a reception in The Trend pub in Wallis Hall.
Douglas Gibson is a Toronto editor and publisher, and the former publisher of all McClelland & Stewart titles. His “Douglas Gibson Books” imprint was the first editorial imprint in Canada, and continues to this day. In more than forty years in the publishing industry, he published many of Canada’s most iconic authors, including Hugh MacLennan, Stephen Leacock, W.O. Mitchell, Robertson Davies, Mavis Gallant and Alice Munro. He’s also shaped the memoirs of multiple prime ministers (Trudeau, Mulroney, Martin). Both Mr. Gibson’s new book, Stories About Storytellers, and his dynamic stage show chronicle the triumphs and challenges of bringing great literary work to Canada and the world.
All members of the community are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to see, hear, and meet these writers in relaxed and hospitable circumstances, free of charge.
