"Being a varsity athlete gave me the confidence I needed to believe I could be selected, and motivated me to apply. Being a top contender in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for volleyball, and my involvement in other sports put me at an advantage.”

This is what fourth year student, Erin Clancy had to say upon reflecting on being chosen as a torchbearer for the Pan AM torch. Ms. Clancy, who is in the Trent-Queen's Concurrent Education program majoring in History and Geography, escorted the torch through Canada’s Wonderland on June 23.

As an employee at the popular amusement park with a resume of sports experience, Ms. Clancy was a natural choice for torchbearer. She took the torch on a 300 meter run from the front gates of the park to the roller coaster, Leviathan. The torch took the ride of a lifetime on the tallest ride of the park.

“I feel very honored to represent both Trent, my community of Woodbridge, and to showcase my sports experience.”
