Try your hand at bannock making in the Trent tipi, take a spring flowers tour hosted by the Peterborough Field Naturalists in the Lady Eaton Drumlin or participate in a discussion on the legacy of Ron Thom, all offered this year as part of Doors Open Peterborough, hosted at Trent University as part of the University's 50th anniversary celebrations.

A variety of Trent buildings will be featured on both the east and west banks of the Symons campus to explore on Saturday May 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday May 1, 2015 marks a special kickoff event at Trent University's downtown location, Catharine Parr Traill College, in honour of Trent's connection to the Peterborough community.

"We're happy to open our doors for the Peterborough community to come and explore one of the country's most beautiful university campuses," said Julie Davis, vice-president, External Relations and Advancement at Trent University. "The Doors Open partnership is a welcome addition to the celebration of our 50th anniversary."

Announced earlier today at the event launch, visitors at Doors Open Peterborough will have the opportunity to discover Trent's unique architecture, breathtaking art collections, state-of-the-art facilities, new and historical features, vibrant natural spaces, and much more. Each location will have a site expert to enhance the self-guided tour experience. There will also be a variety of special timed activities happening at the sites throughout the day.

"There is truly something for the entire family to enjoy", remarked Stewart Hamilton, chair of Doors Open Peterborough. "We are very excited to be partnering with Trent University for Doors Open Peterborough 2015. We have a very busy program planned which we look forward to presenting to the community."

Throughout the day on May 2, visitors are invited to take the free accessible van on Trent University campus, departing from the entrance of Bata Library, running in a continuous loop with stops near the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre, the Nassau Mills Heritage Walk, Gzowski College, Otonabee College and the DNA Building. There will also be an express city bus running in a continuous loop from the Peterborough bus terminal at 190 Simcoe Street direct to the Trent University campus. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the trails and nature areas surrounding Trent University.
