Margaret Laurence Lecture: Child care shouldn't be just a matter of luck

• March 10, 2015 : 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Martha Friendly will deliver this year's  Margaret Laurence Lecture: "Child care shouldn't be just a matter of luck."

In today's Canada, finding and affording quality child care is a matter of luck, not an entitlement. What public policy needs to be put in place to move child care from "I was just lucky" to part of our social infrastructure?  Martha Friendly is Canada’s leading child care advocate, a highly respected researcher, and major architect of policy thinking on child care issues. With over forty years of involvement in child care/early childhood education, she is currently the Executive Director (and founder) of the Childcare Resource and Research Unit (CRRU), Canada’s only policy research institute for early childhood education and care.  The Margaret Laurence lecture is free and open to the public. A reception at the Trend will follow the lecture.

Tuesday, March 10, 7:30pm

Bagnani Lecture Hall, Traill College
