"Your Trent" Student Symposium 2015

A student-run symposium in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Trent University

Location: Bagnani Hall, Traill College

• January 30, 2015 : 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Location: Sr. Commons Room, Lady Eaton College

• January 31, 2015 : 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Submission Deadline Extended

The “Your Trent” Student Symposium is extending the submission deadline to Friday, January 16th at noon. This is a student-run symposium striving for critical dialogue on the present and future of Trent University from student and alumni perspectives. All students (including part-time, graduate, and Trent-Durham students) and alumni are welcome to submit a paper. All submissions will be anonymously evaluated by faculty referees and up to 10 successful authors will receive a $100 cash prize and be invited to present their paper at the symposium. Authors might also have their paper published at the Journal of Undergraduate Study at Trent as part of the Symposium proceeding.

About the Student Symposium 

“Your Trent” Student Symposium

As part of Trent University’s 50th Anniversary, the student symposium task force and partnering groups are sponsoring a student-run symposium on January 30 & 31, 2015.

5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.    Friday January 30, Bagnani Hall, Catherine Parr Traill College
9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.      Saturday January 31, Senior Common Room, Lady Eaton College

Students from various disciplines at Trent present papers on what their university means to them and how it can move forward as an institution. The topics of discussion range from student reflections on the character of our institution and how it shaped their Trent experience, to a visionary exploration of how the Trent University community can continue to flourish in the next 50 years.

The proceedings of this symposium will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Undergraduate Studies at Trent. This is a unique opportunity to witness the collective academic achievement and passion of students across all disciplines, in the spirit of honoring and celebrating the rich tradition of Trent University.

Opening remarks by Professor Thomas H.B. Symons, the founding President of Trent University. Closing remarks by Dr. Thomas Miller, member of the Board of Governors and Trent University alumni.
