Trent University is issuing a unique fundraising challenge to the community in celebration of GivingTuesday and in honour of the University’s milestone 50th anniversary – to help us raise $50,000 in 50 hours from November 30 through GivingTuesday on December 2.

Through a targeted social media and calling campaign, Trent University’s “50 in 50” initiative will encourage donations in direct support of students, including athletics, student services, and financial support for undergraduate, graduate and international students.

To help the University reach the ambitious goal of $50,000, all first time donors who make a donation during the 50 hours of the campaign, from 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 2, will have their donation matched 2:1, by an anonymous donor, tripling the impact of their gift.

“It is fitting that, as an institution that is profoundly anchored in philanthropy and deeply indebted to the support of our community, Trent continues to celebrate our 50th anniversary with this special Giving Tuesday initiative,” said Julie Davis, vice president of External Relations and Advancement at Trent. “We hope that the community will join us in taking up this challenge to help support our students for another 50 years and beyond.”

The 50 hours of giving campaign will be supported through social media on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as through e-mail and telefundraising. Members of the Trent community will also be encouraged to wear their Trent green and share their “unselfies” (short cell phone videos talking about why they support Trent or a photo holding a sign stating why they support Trent) on social media throughout the 50 hours and on GivingTuesday in support of the initiative.
