Panel on Corporate Social Responsibility Brings Unique Perspectives to the Table

On Monday afternoon, Trent chancellor, Dr. Tom Jackson participated in a panel discussion centred on corporate social responsibility for his annual Dreamcatcher series.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members benefitted from the expertise of panellists, Dr. Asaf Zohar (Business Administration), Dr. Kathryn Norlock (Kenneth Mark Drain chair in Ethics) and Ms. Lucinda Hage (Trent Alumnus) who joined Dr. Jackson in a discussion that illustrated their unique perspectives on corporate reform and collective responsibility.

Dr. David Newhouse (Indigenous Studies), who moderated the event, began the conversation by posing the question, “as educational institutions, we are teaching future corporate and business leaders… what ought our role be as educators?” This candid enquiry ignited conversation on topics such as the recent Occupy movements, political engagement, economic reform, voter turnout, and community development and engaged the audience to participate in a rich dialogue and debate.

Dreamcatcher is a series of workshops and events that provide opportunities for the Trent and Peterborough communities to engage in dialogue and discussion with Trent’s chancellor, Dr. Tom Jackson. The inaugural workshops were held in April 2010.
