Summer Job and Volunteer Fair Scheduled for Thursday, February 9

Don't Miss the Event of the Season!

Summer Job FairThe word is spreading quickly… employers from Peterborough and beyond are in the market for Trent students to fill their summer job and volunteer positions! Don't miss out on a chance to meet these employers and hear about unique and exciting opportunities at the Career Centre's annual Summer Job and Volunteer Fair taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9 in the main foyer of Gzowski College (Symons Campus).

Sonya Hardman, Employer Services Advisor, is excited to report that a record number of exhibitors, eager to recruit Trent students, are signed on to participate this year.

"This is our third year hosting this event and we have more participants than ever before," she says. "It seems as though no one wants to miss out on this event, which is great for students because there are some amazing opportunities on offer this year."

Businesses and organizations from Peterborough and beyond being represented at the Fair include non-profit agencies, government, tree planting companies, the hospitality industry, on-campus departments, and many more. For a complete list of participants, visit the Career Centre website at http://www.trentu.ca/careers/.

Think it's too early to start your summer job search? Natalie Boot, the Career Resource Advisor at the Career Centre, says you couldn't be more wrong.

"Recruiters are already beginning their summer recruiting and are accepting résumés now. Not too mention, government program deadlines are around the corner," she explains. "Students who wait until May to begin applying for jobs risk missing out on some really fantastic opportunities."

If you are interested in attending but feel you need a little help getting your resume together or honing your networking skills, the Career Centre is offering free workshops on these topics and more leading up to the event. If you are interested, you can find more information at http://www.trentu.ca/careers/sjvf05.htm.

For more information on the Job and Volunteer Fair, visit or contact the Career Centre. You can drop in to Room 204 at Champlain College or contact them by phone at (705) 748-1011 x 1385.
