Event Planning
There are many fun and engaging events that are put on by different student, staff and faculty groups throughout the academic year. You can find information on all of these events in the “What’s Happening” Newsletter, alongside the myTrent Calendar.
If you are planning to host an event on campus, please follow our process below.
Step One - Think of What You Need: Once you’ve come up with your event idea, decide what you need to make it a success! Do you require any assistance, preparations from our staff, or promotions? Or do you just need a space?
If you require assistance, proceed to step two. If not, proceed to step four.
Step Two - Fill Out an Events Form. If you are hosting an event, meeting or workshop that requires assistance from Student Life or Facilities, please fill out an events form!
Student Life Assistance includes: Staffing assistance, technology, sound set-up.
Facilities Assistance includes: Anything furniture related (including tables and chairs that are not already located in your proposed event location).
Please note, we are requesting that all organizers register any event at least 7 days before its proposed time. If we do not receive this lead time, we cannot guarantee any assistance with staff, supplies or promotions that might be needed.
Step Three - Connect with our Staff Team: Our Staff will respond as soon as possible once you have filled out our events form, sharing important information and any suggested next steps. We welcome any follow-up questions through email, phone, or video call!
Step Four – Book a Space on Campus: Whether you have decided to fill an events form or not, all hosts will need to book an available space on campus. You can do this by emailing durhamscheduling@trentu.ca.
Step Five – Promote Your Event: It’s time to begin independently promoting your event! For any advertisements you make on campus, please adhere to our new poster policy found on our Events Planning Webpage.
Thank you for your interest in hosting an event at TrentU Durham GTA and contributing to our campus community. We look forward to connecting with you!
