Preparing for Spring

Trent students Kate Cave and Kate Brown recently worked with Grounds crew members and retired employee Kerry Taylor to plant bulbs in the newly-landscaped hillside adjacent to the Trent University Bookstore. More than 2000 new tulip, hyacinth and narcissus bulbs in that location will help beautify spring's arrival on campus.

Trent shows support for local United Way

The Trent University campaign in support of the local United Way has raised more than $45,000 from 185 current and retired Trent employees. That's 88 per cent of the goal.

Co-chairs are Janice Millard, Bata Library, and Tony Storey, Alumni Association.

Professor John Earnshaw, Physics, was the winner of the Trent donors' grand prize draw for a weekend for two at the Irwin Inn. Tickets will soon be on sale here for a general raffle in support of the United Way. Check the Web site www.trentu.ca /unitedway for the names of ticket sellers in your work area.

Trent has been challenged by Fleming College to enter a United Way fund-raising team and participate in a Nov. 8 marathon ride on stationary bicycles at the YMCA. Trent President Bonnie Patterson and Fleming President Brian Desbiens are scheduled to complete their 30-minute ride at 6:30 a.m
