Trent University Hosts 35th Peterborough Regional Science Fair - April 12

Hundreds of students - from kindergarten to Grade 12 expected to participate

Hundreds of students from the Peterborough region will showcase their scientific skill at the Peterborough Regional Science Fair at Trent University on Tuesday, April 12, 2005.

The fair will be held in the Environmental Sciences and Chemical Sciences buildings on the east bank of the Symons Campus. There will be close to 100 volunteer judges from Trent and the community at-large. Judges will evaluate the projects, identifying those of highest merit, all the while maintaining a positive experience for all students. Awards will be presented in Otonabee College's Wenjack Theatre at 3:30 p.m.

The fair is open to the public for tours between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is free of charge.

Winners of the regional science fair go on to the Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF). The region has a strong reputation for sending high-calibre students to the CWSF and many have gone on to win gold medals. This year, the CWSF will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from May 15 to 22.

The Peterborough Regional Science Fair draws on strong support from many sponsors - this support allows Trent to present prizes for top projects and send the region's finest onto the CWSF. Thanks to fair sponsors and the more than 100 volunteers from Trent and the community.
