Talking To Trent Students: Rick Mercer Visits March 22

Rick Mercer will visit Trent University on Monday, March 22 to do a little jousting… literally.

With a sabre in one hand, and likely a microphone in the other, the Canadian comedian and host of CBC Television's Monday Report is planning for a little back-and-forth with the fencing team. Mr. Mercer and the Monday Report crew are scheduled to start their visit at the Athletic Complex soon after lunch.

In the afternoon, have your wits about you - Mr. Mercer will be touring the campus and is keyed up for Talking To Trent Students. Any students from Newfoundland - Mr. Mercer's birthplace - are encouraged to come out and speak up! Mr. Mercer, who is best known as the star of This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made in Canada, and Talking to Americans, earlier this month taped Monday Report at Queen's University. Apparently, university life appeals - he's looking to learn more about who we are and what we do.

In Monday Report, Mr. Mercer travels across the country and talks to Canadians - it also includes a monologue or "rant" on the state of the world. The show highlights his trademark wit, banter, and political satire.

And rumour has it Mr. Mercer will conclude his visit to Peterborough with a stop at the renowned Pig's Ear Tavern.
