Habitat for Humanity Canada's VP Affiliate Services Delivers Talk on Non-Profit Sector at Trent University on January 27

Maureen Crawford returns to Alma Mater for Free Public Lecture

Wednesday, January 25, 2006, Peterborough

The Trent Central Student Association (TCSA) and the Trent University Alumni Association are co-sponsoring an evening with Maureen Crawford, Trent alumnus and current Vice President of Affiliate Services with Habitat for Humanity Canada, on Friday, January 27 at 7 p.m. in Room 117 at Gzowski College.

During her talk, Ms. Crawford will be discussing her long-term involvement in the not-for-profit sector as well as providing tips on how people in the community can get more involved. The lecture will be followed by a reception, providing an opportunity for attendees to speak with Ms. Crawford as well as members of the Peterborough Habitat for Humanity Division who will also be in attendance.

Ms. Crawford graduated from Trent in 1981 with a BBA. After working for IBM and Bell Canada in sales and customer service, she began volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Edmonton and went on to serve as the chair of the board in Calgary and as a representative on the National Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Canada (HFHC). In 2000 she became HFHC's Western Affiliate Director before accepting the position of Vice President, Affiliate Services in 2002.

In her current role, Ms. Crawford is responsible for supporting affiliates of HFHC in all ten provinces and in the Yukon. As part of her portfolio, she also supervises Campus Chapters and Youth programs, Global Village programs, Women Build, and Faith Relations.

The lecture and reception are open to the public and free to attend. Any donations collected will be given to Habitat for Humanity Peterborough.
