Book Launch for Biographies of Canadian Authors

Book Launch for Biographies of Canadian AuthorsA book launch will be held at Trent University's Catharine Parr Traill College for two McClelland and Stewart biographies of renowned Canadian writers.

Mitchell the second and final volume of the biography of W.O. Mitchell by Orm and Barbara Mitchell and Alice Munro: Writing Her Lives a biography on fiction writer Alice Munro by Robert Thacker will be officially launched on Sunday, November 20, 2005.

Dr. Ormond Mitchell, a professor with Trent University's English Department, along with his wife Barbara, who has taught at Trent and in the secondary school system, have together authored and edited several books and articles on Prof. Mitchell's father W.O. Mitchell including the first volume of his biography, W.O.: The Life of W.O. Mitchell; Beginning to Who Has Seen the Wind, 1914-1947 (McClelland & Stewart, 1999) and An Evening with W.O. Mitchell (McClelland & Stewart, 1997).

Dr. Robert Thacker is a professor of Canadian Studies and Literature at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. He has studied Alice Munro's life and works for 30 years and is considered the academic authority on Alice Munro. He wrote the biography with Munro's cooperation and support.

The launch presents a rare opportunity to meet the biographers and is a special occasion for anyone interested in Canadian writing.

The launch begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Traill College Dining Room, Scott House, 310 London St., Peterborough. Light refreshments will be served.
