Lady Eaton College presents: "15th Century Frolicke" |

Hurly Burly Peterborough Medieval Ensemble Hurly Burly is returning to Trent University's Lady Eaton College with a new concert program of music from the time of Richard III. Everyone is welcome to attend this event in the Lady Eaton Dining Hall at 8 p.m. on October 7. There is no charge for admission. Hurly Burly started as a choir associated with the Peterborough chapter of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) some years ago. Nowadays, it has nine members who share a passion for early music. Many of its current complement have Trent connections as faculty, staff, alumni, and students. A unique aspect of the group is that most members play instruments in addition to singing. Members use many replicas of period instruments, including harps, hurdy gurdy, vielle, citole, plucked and bowed psalteries, hammered dulcimer, lute guitar, and recorder consort. The group has performed to age groups ranging from kindergartners to seniors, in and around Peterborough, as well as at Casa Loma and the University of Toronto. Posted October 7, 2004 |
