University Saddened by Death of Employee

The University was saddened to hear of the death this weekend of Dr. Jonathan Charles Swallow at his home in Stirling on April 27.

Jonathan was a part-time instructional designer at Trent University’s Interactive Learning Centre and was first employed at the University in September, 2000. Jonathan worked with faculty members to investigate, create and apply innovative instructional strategies that enable students to discuss, apply and explore new concepts.

"On behalf of the University I want to extend our deepest sympathies to Jonathan’s family and to his many friends who share in this loss," said Bonnie M. Patterson, President and Vice Chancellor.

A memorial celebration of Jonathan’s life will be held at the Batawa Ski Hill, Batawa, on Sunday, May 4 at 2:30 pm. Donations to the Congregation Iyr HaMelech – Education Fund, Trust Fund for Joseph and Jennylee Swallow, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family. Sympathy notes and donations can be sent to Jonathan’s partner Mary Ellen Thompson c/o of Angie Best of the Trent University Interactive Learning Centre.

To honor Jonathan’s memory the flag atop the Bata Library has been lowered to the half-mast position.
