Registration begins for winter recreation programs

Registration is now available for Trent University’s winter recreation programs.

Winter Sports Camp:

The Winter Adventures Program, for children aged five to 12, will operate on December 30, 31, and January 2 and 3. It features a great variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including snow football, swimming, broomball, basketball, winter hikes and skating at local arenas.

A half-day program is available for children five and six years old, and a full-day program is available for youth seven to 12 years old. The program is presented by qualified and mature staff from the Trent Summer Sports Camp. Participants can register for any of the four days, and do not have to commit to attending the full session.

Registration for the Winter Adventures Program is ongoing, either in person at the Athletic Complex, or by mail. Staff and faculty discounts are available for this program, and further information and registration forms are available on the camp’s Web site at www.trentu.ca/sportscamp.

Winter Swimming Lessons

The next session of swimming lessons at Trent’s Allan Marshall Pool will begin in January, and features Red Cross Water Safety programs for infants to adults, stroke improvement and special needs classes, and lifesaving and leadership training.

To register for winter swimming lessons, participants must first obtain a registration number on Wednesday, December 4, from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Numbers can be picked up in person at the Athletic Complex, or can be obtained by calling 748-1257. This registration number will give participants a 15-minute time period to register during the evening of December 4. Further information is available on the pool’s Web site at www.trentu.ca/aquatics.

For brochures or additional details on these programs, please call the Athletics and Recreation Department at Trent University, (705) 748-1257.
