Alistair MacLeod arrives!

A group of students, faculty and staff from Trent University welcomed internationally-acclaimed novelist Alistair MacLeod to campus on Monday, November 18.

A dinner was held in Mr. MacLeod’s honour at the Traill College Senior Common Room on Monday evening. President Bonnie Patterson welcomed Mr. MacLeod and a member of the Traill College cabinet presented Mr. MacLeod with a gift.

Mr. MacLeod is the author of the award-winning novel No Great Mischief, and of three volumes of short stories. Most recently, Island, a complete collection of his short stories, was released.

As Trent University’s Ashley Fellow for 2002/03, Mr. MacLeod will be featured in public lectures and readings. As well, he will work with small groups of students at Trent, particularly those interested in creative writing. He is in Peterborough this week (November 18 – 22), and will return for four to five weeks in the new year.
