Movie premiere a Trent event

Trent students, staff and faculty will be the first moviegoers in Canada to see Hollywood's latest thriller, which used the Peterborough university for much of its setting. It will be the first-ever big budget movie with a Canadian opening in Peterborough.

Areas of the Symons Campus became Alpine University last year for the filming of Urban Legends 2 - The Final Cut, with Trent students working as extras for some of the scenes and in security roles.

Urban Legend logo The movie is set to open nationally Sept. 22, but the Trent community, including students, faculty, staff and their guests, will be able to attend a special invitational screening of the movie at Peterborough's new Galaxy the evening before the national launch of the picture.

As many as four screens will be devoted to the movie preview, providing seating for up to 1,350 people. Tickets will be at a special reduced price.

"We're still working on the details of the evening but we will have the director, John Ottman, attend and take part in the celebration," said Ken Prue, a Galaxy spokesperson. Prue said plans call for a late evening showing - "it's a late night kind of movie" along with theme music and special lobby decorations.

Details about show time and ticket sales will be posted on the Trent Web site as soon as they are available. For a preview of the movie, follow the link from the Trent home page or visit www.spe.sony.com/movies/urbanlegends/.
