Recognition of Alumni

Phil Graham '89, who has represented Canada at two Olympics in rowing, was awarded the 1st Distinguished Alumni Award. The award is presented based on a person's achievement and leadership in their field. Recipients will have shown leadership in business, industry, a profession, or in public life, and they will have brought honour to Trent University through endeavours which have earned them prominence within their field. Their vision, commitment, creativity, and leadership will have been recognized within their field and beyond it.

Tom Wassaykeesic '90, who has made valuable contributions to community development in Osnaburgh in Northern Ontario, is the recipient of the Spirit of Trent Award. The Spirit of Trent is presented to an alum who has made a difference, through contribution to the University, the alumni association, or the community. We intend with this award to recognize those who continue to demonstrate the values and lessons learned at Trent. In addition, we want to recognize those whose contribution might not otherwise be acknowledged and who are serving in some capacity, in addition to their regular work or hobbies, to make the world a better place.

Recognition of Students

Sarah Lamble has received the Robert Lightbody Prize. The recipient is chosen by Peter Robinson College and presented to a student who made significant contributions to Peter Robinson during the year, while maintaining a strong academic record.

Nammi Poorooshasb of Champlain College is the recipient of the Robert W.F. Stephenson Award recognizing excellence in student governance.

Alumni recognition awards were presented at each college during an event honouring graduating students. The recognition awards are presented to students who made outstanding contributions to their college throughout their time at Trent.
