Eminent Grounds for Eminent Service

Trent's interdisciplinary approach to learning will be further broadened with three new 'emphasis programs'. Law & Policy will incorporate courses in Political Studies, Economics, ERS, Sociology, Native Studies and Philosophy. Alan Law and Julia Harrison will co-ordinate an emphasis program in Travel Studies, for honours students, drawing from Anthropology, Geography, Sociology and English Literature. The calendar copy for the proposed Applied Ethics emphasis reads, in part, "A solid grounding in critical thinking, ethical theory, and applied ethics is increasingly important for the many different kinds of careers that involve developing reasoned responses to public policy."

Administrative Studies has changed the name of its degree to Bachelor of Business Administration to better reelect the content and orientation of the program. Also proposed is a joint major Honours Program to allow students in other disciplines to enhance career opportunities by incorporating the study of business theory and practice. "Globalization: Communities and Identities" is a proposed joint major Honours program "intended for students with a particular interest in the cultural dimensions of globalization."
