1976

Brian Rusted '76 was married on November 10, 1998 in Millarville, Alberta to Christine Sowiak. Brian is Associate Dean in the Faculty of General Studies at the University of Calgary. Christine is curator at the Nickle Arts Museum, the university's art gallery.

 

1977

Cyndie Peterson '77 married Steve Downie in 1984. They lived in Toronto until 1987 when they returned to Peterborough where Cyndie is currently an accountant (CMA) with Liberty Mutual. She is presently on maternity leave after the safe arrival of their h, born April 23, 1998.

1980

Dr. James Orbinski '80 been named winner of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario's prestigious "President's Award". This marks only the second time the award has been given out; the er was Canadian astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar in 1992. The award is given to a member of the College who has made an extraordinary contribution to society.

 

1983

Shane Hobson '83 has expanded his law practice by forming a partnership and opening another office. The law on Pretsell will have offices in metropolitan Madoc and Belleville, Ontario. Greetings to classmates of 1983 and adjacent years.

 

Charlotte Kanat '83 and Rick Davey are thrilled to welcome the latest addition to their family: a baby daughter: Brianna Michelle, born on November 4, 1998. Brianna is also welcomed and adored by her big brother, Benjamin Scott, who was born January 26,1994. The family is doing well, and living in Wasaga Beach where Rick works for Blue Mountain Resorts, and Charlotte is on maternity leave from teaching Grade 1 in a local school. 1984

On July 18,1998 Jacquie Haugen '86 and John Vice '84 were married at St. Aloysius Church in Kitchener, Ontario. The picture shows the Trent Alumni in attendance. Mike Trites '84 is pleased to announce his marriage to Debra Smith on July 18, 1998. The wedding was held at the Stephen Leacock Home in Orillia, ON. Mike is currently employed with Durham District Board of Education and the newlyweds are living in Ajax, ON.

 

1985

Moneca Jantzen '85 and Darren Crawford welcomed "not so wee" Brianna Sage Bethany into the world on October 20,1998. She weighed in at a healthy 10 lbs. 8 oz. and continues to thrive. A first child for both of them, they are enjoying the challenge of parenting and are so blessed to have such a beautiful baby girl.

 

A grad of Trent, a B.A. in Cultural Studies, Mark Bornstein '85 owns a production company that does full cast audio dramas. The main title Brick Mallery Private Investigator, which he wrote and directed, won a Publishers Weekly "Listen Up" award for best audio dramatization. 1986

Stephen Burkholder '86 would like to announce his recent promotion to the position of Accident Benefits Specialist with the Co-Operators General Insurance Company in Markham, Ontario.

 

Bill Graves '86 was awarded an M.B.A. with distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University at the Fall í98 Convocation. Bill has accepted the position of Business Consultant at the Manulife Financial Canadian head office. Bill and his wife, Theresa Fitzgerald '86 now live in Elmira with their Australian Shepherd, Pavlov. Theresa is continuing her job as Product Manager for StayWell from a home office.

 

1987

Jacqueline (Stephenson) Laurie '87 and Todd Laurie would like to announce the birth of their daughter Sarah Patricia Laurie on July 5, 1998 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, ON. Sarah was baptized on November 15, 1998 at St. Andrew's United Church, Georgetown. Sarah's baptismal gown was made from her proud Grandmother's wedding dress. Jacqueline, Todd and Sarah make their home in Georgetown, Ontario.

 

1988

On September 27, 1998, Shelagh Donovan '88 wed Stephen Straughan (brother of Heather Straughan '88), at Windermere on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka. Trent friends in attendance included: Melissa McCormack '88, Heather, Shelagh, Marie Zehr '88 and Kelly Mclssac '88. Shelagh received her Master of Library and Information Science (UWO) in 1996, and is working as a Senior QA Analyst with Geac (Libraries Division). Bill Yates '88, Dana (Dengler) Yates '89 and Alex (Champlain) are happy to announce the birth of their second child, Ian Nathaniel on January 11, 1998 in Oshawa, Ontario. They would also like to share with their Trent friends, that Bill recently acquired a job transfer (2-3 years) to Basel, Switzerland. Dana has obtained a teaching position with the International School of Basel, teaching ESL students. Alex has started Junior Kindergarten abroad. Ian now has six teeth! Jena Jacobson Roesky '88 and her husband Rainer were married in July 1994. They have two children: Benjamin, born August 23, 1996 and Rebecca, born October 2, 1998.

 

1989

Andrew Pease '89 and Donna Bullard-Pease '92 would like to announce their marriage. They celebrated their 3, 1998.

 

Kathie Shaw '89 and Jeff McMahon '90 are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of their son Gregory Hugh Shaw-McMahon. Born on August 31, 1998 weighing 8 pounds 15 ounces. Gregory has been enjoying the LEC donning community. This will be Kathie and Jeff's last year donning at LEC, but they will remain in Peterborough.

 

1990

Matt Vasey '90 and Jeana (Wiginton) Vasey '91 were married on December 11th, 1998 in Vancouver, BC. The other Trent alumna in attendance was Danielle Aitken '91 who Matt is currently a Branch Manager with SoftChoice Corporation and Jeana will be continuing her work in Employment Training in their new home, Seattle WA. Cheryl (Ashby) Maijares '90 and Jose Mijares are thrilled to announce that they are married. Their wedding took place outdoors August 8, 1998 and they honeymooned in sunny Hawaii. The wedding party included Karen Ashby, Tara Bateson '90, Carolee Pemberton, Noel Cordahi '90, Dave Toshak, Dan Timothy, and Rob Walisser '90. Other Trent alumni present were Laurie Coombe '90, Harold Prasad '84, Jay Wheadon '90 and Jen Rantz '91. 1991

Clarke Dixon '91 was ordained as a Baptist Minister at Broderick Memorial Baptist Church in St. Thomas, Ontario on November 29, 1998. He will have a 2-point charge including Broderick Memorial and Edward Street Baptist Church, both in St. Thomas.
